Things that happen near the coffee maker
So I work at a big company now with all these departments. I’m in advertising and finance is near me.
There is a guy who works in finance and during my first week here every time I would go fill up or wash my coffee cup, he was doing the same thing. By the third day or so, I thought this was funny.
I’m also giggly because I’m in an office and I feel like deep down I’m a 12-year-old in
the movie Big. So, naturally, I see Finance Guy at the sink (once again!) and start giggling to myself.
He turns to me (and this what I heard): “What’s up, honey?”
And I’m thinking, oh, he’s just one of those guys who is super friendly and talks like that to everyone.
Then, my brain kicks into gear and I realize what he actually said: “What’s so funny?”
And he looks kind of pissed.
I try to explain that it’s amusing that we are thirsty at the same time, every day. I mean, it IS! It’s like we have the same biorhythm or something. He works in finance, so this wasn’t remotely funny or interesting to him.
I need to watch an episode of The Office to learn how to behave.
It feels so good to be getting out of the house again!

Ha-ha. Thanks for the amusing episode I’m reading while enjoying a coffee (coincidentally, again!-;).
I’m not a finance guy, I confess. So, it IS funny to me to, indeed.
Do keep giggling. It’s healthy, they say.
Regards,
Jack
